Salix purpurea Japonica in Mid-February A lovely ornamental willow with a rough bark
and an abundance of small, purple catkins
displayed very early in the year.
(These photos were taken in February.)

Light green rods with light green leaves during the summer,
the bark turning into light green to cream during the winter.

Use as ornamental garden willow, for hedging,
or in a spring flower arrangement.
Can also be used in baskets to add interest.
